At 3-1, the cue ball fell upon the break and all of a sudden, the score
evolved to 3-4. I re-gained the lead at 5-4, when the same mischief
happened again. The cue ball was pocketed upon the break and the
player from Spain took a 8-5 lead. I fought myself back into the
match and scored until the 7-8. And again, I shot an unlucky break.
The 9 ball stoped just in front of a pocket and I could not see the
1 ball. My attempt to pocket the 9 ball with a rail shot did not
work – the 9 remained in front of the pocket.. Alcoberro missed
the 1 ball and left me with a rail shot for the 1 ball. With the 9
ball hanging over the pocket and the 4 ball just beside, I had a
major path. But the 1 ball dazzled in an unreal way in the pocket
without falling. Now, the rack was open for the Spanish player and
he made use of this opportunity to win 9-7. The audience cheered the
succes of their fellow countryman and my nightmare 2005 goes on.
The second German player,
Oliver Ortmann, had a bit of luck and played his way through to the
final. Here, he lost to the Spanish player Victor Tapies 7-11 and
finished second. Third places went to David Alcaide and the surprise
Javier Alos (both Spain).
