For the second time after 2001, C. Deuel from the USA could win the title of the Sudden Death 7-Ball tournament organized by promoter M. Braun. This invitational was organized for the first time in the gambling town Las Vegas. In the ESPN Zone of the New York - New York Hotel and Casino, Deuel defeated in the final T. Engert (GER) 7-1, 7-5 and won, beside his second title, a prize money cheque of 25.000 US$. Engert, who confirmed his current good form, could cash 5.000 US$. In the semi-finals, two Sudden Death racks had to decide both matches at equal scores in sets. R. Morris (USA) lost to the German player Engert and his Mosconi Cup team mate T. Robles (USA) lost to the winner C. Deuel.

In my match against T. Robles, I was leading 6-3 in the first set, but then was unlucky in two situations and could not win the first set (6-7). In the second set, I had lost my momentum and was eliminated at this early stage. Other prominent first round losers were L. van Corteza (PHI), A. Pagulayan (CAN) and J. Archer (USA).
