1. Summer Midnight Open Scotch Doubles 9-Ball, Ingolstadt - Souquet / Roschkowsky undefeated

The BSC Ingolstadt celebrated ist 15th birthday this year and had organized a 9 Ball summer tournament for doubles. Having been an active member of this club for many years, I considered it to be normal to participate. Although midnight tournaments are not really my cup of tea, I thought I really had to make an exception, especially since the tournament was held in my direct neighbourhood.
With my former team mate from Dessau, Andreas Roschkowsky, I had found a very strong partner and we were chased right from the beginning.
In round one, we played on the gifted newcomers Heckl / Fuchs and won 5-2 after having lead 4-0. We won with the same result against M. Mauerer / R. Hentschel.
In round 3, we played W. Michl / A. Yilmaz, a team composed of 2nd national division players. With a good performance, we entered the next round winning 7-1. Our opponents were not unknown - F. Hammer and J. Belka have both already played in the first national league. However, the game wasn’t very good and both sides made mistakes – the long night started to show first traces. Still, we managed to win 7-5 and we entered round 5.
Here, we played Weichselbaumer / Auyeung, and we won 7-4.
The final of the winners bracket against H. Arslan / T. Demircan was very single-sided and thanks to our focused game, we entered the final winning 7-1.
The final of the losers bracket was won by the Turkish double Arslan / Demircan against the two Czech players L. Krenek / M. Gavenczak and so the final was once more Souquet / Roschkowsky – Arslan / Demircan.
At the beginning, we missed any easy rack and then had problems to find our composure. We made too many mistakes and re-enforced our opponents over and over. Towards the end, we played better and could finally win 9-5 against the Turkish double from Munich – we won the tournament after more than 15 hours game time. Rank 4 in the field of 52 doubles went to my former team mates from Dessau C. Reimering / S. Trautmann.
