NEWS - 09-13-03 Netherlands Open 9-Ball - Hohmann keeps surfing on the wave of success

This EuroTour which was simultaneously a World Tour event Weert, The Netherlands, had attracted some 220 competitors. The conditions in the House of Billiards were very good.

After a walk-through, my first opponent was E. Van Haren (NED). In spite of my weak form, I booked a clear 9-3. The second match against M. Erculj from Slovenia was much better until the score of 6-1. Then, I started making mistakes again, but I still managed to win 9-5. The next match for a spot in the final KO bracket was against G. Cappelletti from Italy. Again, my performance was below average, but once more, my opponent could not benefit from this weakness. The final score of 9-5 was well deserved, but my performance was not up to my expectations. In the final round, the draw made me play N. Feijen (NED). This match could be classified in the category „the sooner you forget it, the better…“. Many unbelievable mistakes and the resulting frustration lead to my 4-9 defeat. Another 17th rank didn’t do any good to my overall feeling. In the German-German semi-final, T. Hohmann defeated M. Schmidt and in the Dutch-Dutch semi-final, N. van den Berg won against N. Feijen. The final was a one-sided affair in favour of the current World Champion. Hohmann played great breaks and showed a good overall performance and so secured his first EuroTour title by winning 9-1 in the final of Weert.
